Kutum is a town located in the Sudanese state of North Darfur. It is situated approximately 120 kilometers northwest of Al-Fashir, the state capital. The town is positioned along a wadi and is frequently referred to as Wadi Kutum.
Geographically, Kutum lies north along the Marrah Mountains, near the Kutum volcanic field, which is more commonly known as the Tagabo Hills. The area serves as a location on one of the traditional north–south migration routes utilized by Darfuri pastoralists.
As of 2006, the town had a population of 45,000 people. The inhabitants are predominantly of the Fur, Tunjur, and Berti ethnicities.
