Kassala

Kassala is the capital city of the Kassala state located in eastern Sudan. Situated on the banks of the Gash River, the city serves as a significant regional hub and market center.

The city is well-known for its extensive fruit gardens and diverse demographic makeup. A large portion of its inhabitants are members of the Hadendawa sub-tribe of the Beja ethnic group. As of 2003, the recorded population of Kassala was 530,950.
