Nyala

Sudan

Nyala is a city located in Sudan.

The name also refers to the lowland nyala, a spiral-horned artiodactyl antelope native to Southern Africa. This species belongs to the family Bovidae and the genus Tragelaphus. First described in 1849 by George French Angas, it is notable for exhibiting the highest sexual dimorphism among spiral-horned antelopes.

The lowland nyala should not be confused with the endangered mountain nyala, which inhabits the Bale region of Ethiopia.
