Port Sudan is a major port city located on the Red Sea in eastern Sudan. It serves as the capital of the Red Sea State and functions as the country's primary seaport.

The city is a critical hub for national commerce, serving as the source of approximately 90% of Sudan's international trade. According to the 2008 Census of Sudan, the population of Port Sudan was estimated to be 394,561 people.
