Rabigh is a city and governorate located in the Makkah Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is situated on the coast of the Red Sea within the historic Hejazi region, approximately 208 km northwest of Mecca. The city sits at an elevation of 13 meters (43 feet) above sea level and is positioned near the border with the Madinah Province.
The history of the settlement dates back to the era before the advent of Islam in the 7th century C.E. Until the 17th century, the city was known by the names Al-Juhfah or Al-Johfah. As of 2014, Rabigh had an estimated population of 180,352 residents.
