Khamis Mushait is a city located in the Asir Region of southwest Saudi Arabia. It is situated east of Abha, which serves as the provincial seat of the Asir Province, and lies approximately 884 kilometres (549 mi) from the national capital of Riyadh. The city serves as the capital for the Shahran tribe within the region.
As of 2017, Khamis Mushait had an estimated metro population of 1,353,000, making it the fifth-largest city in Saudi Arabia following Riyadh, Jeddah, Mecca, and Medina. The city is recognized as the fourth largest trading centre in the country and is also notable for hosting a military airbase.
