Ras Tanura

Saudi Arabia

Ras Tanura is a city and semi-governorate located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. It sits on a peninsula extending into the Persian Gulf. While it is geographically considered part of Qatif and is situated near that governorate, the city is de facto under the administration of the Jubail governorate.

The name Ras Tanura refers to two distinct areas: a gated Saudi Aramco employee compound and an industrial area further out on the peninsula. The latter serves as a major oil port and operations center for Saudi Aramco, which is the largest oil company in the world. The residential compound currently houses approximately 3,200 residents, including several expatriates from the United States and the United Kingdom.
