Dammam is an industrial port city located on the coast of the Persian Gulf in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. It serves as the seat and largest city of this province. As of 2022, Dammam had a population of 1,386,166, ranking it as the fifth-largest city in the country following Riyadh, Jeddah, Mecca, and Medina.

The city forms the core of the Dammam metropolitan area, also referred to as Greater Dammam. This metropolitan region encompasses the neighboring governorates of Khobar and Qatif. The total population of the Greater Dammam area was 2,743,318 as of 2022, making it the third-largest metropolitan area in Saudi Arabia.
