Nerchinsk is a town located in the Zabaykalsky Krai region of Russia. It serves as the administrative center of the Nerchinsky District and is situated on the left bank of the Nercha River, approximately 7 kilometers above its confluence with the Shilka River.
The town is positioned roughly 644 kilometers east of Lake Baikal and about 225 kilometers west of the Chinese border. It lies 305 kilometers east of Chita, which is the administrative center of the Zabaykalsky Krai. According to the 2010 census, the population of Nerchinsk was 14,959.
