Turukhansk is a rural locality in Russia that serves as the administrative center of the Turukhansky District within Krasnoyarsk Krai. It is situated at the confluence of the Yenisey and Nizhnyaya Tunguska Rivers, approximately 1,474 kilometers (916 mi) north of Krasnoyarsk.
The settlement has undergone several name changes throughout its history. Until 1924, the town was known as Monastyrskoye, and it was subsequently renamed Novo-Turukhansk from 1924 to 1930 before becoming Turukhansk.
