Novyy Urengoy is the most populous city in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, a region in Russia. As of 2021, the city had a population of 107,251 residents.
The city is situated approximately 450 kilometres, or 280 miles, from Salekhard, which serves as the capital of the autonomous okrug.
