Tyumen is a major Russian city located in North Asia along the Tura River, situated just east of the Ural Mountains. It serves as the administrative center and largest city of the Tyumen Oblast. Due to its geographical position, it is frequently regarded as the first Siberian city when traveling from the western direction.

The city is one of the largest urban centers in the Ural region and the Ural Federal District. Its development has been significantly fueled by the Russian oil and gas industry, leading to rapid population growth in recent years. As of the 2021 Census, Tyumen had a population of 847,488.
