Tobolsk is a town located in the Tyumen Oblast region of Russia. It is situated at the confluence of the Tobol and Irtysh rivers.
Founded in 1587, the city holds historical significance as the second-oldest Russian settlement east of the Ural Mountains in Asian Russia. It also served as the historic capital of the Siberia region.
As of the 2021 census, the population of Tobolsk was 100,352. Previous census data shows a steady population presence over recent decades, with figures ranging from approximately 92,880 in 2002 to 99,694 in 2010.
