Rzhev is a town located in the Tver Oblast region of Russia. It is situated on the highway and railway connecting Moscow and Riga, approximately 49 kilometers southwest of Staritsa and 126 kilometers from Tver.
The town is notable for being the uppermost settlement positioned on the Volga River. According to the 2010 census, Rzhev had a population of 61,982 residents.
