Kimry, formerly known as Kimra, is a town located in the southern region of Tver Oblast, Russia. It is situated on the Volga River at the point where it meets the Kimrka River, positioned approximately 133 kilometers (83 miles) east of the city of Tver.
According to census data, the population of the town has fluctuated over recent decades. The 2010 census recorded a population of 49,628, following figures of 53,650 in 2002 and 61,535 during the 1989 Soviet census.
