Shchekino

Shchekino, also romanized as Shchyokino, is a town located in the Tula Oblast of Russia. It serves as the administrative center of the Shchyokinsky District and is situated on the Moscow—Simferopol highway (M2). The town is positioned approximately 25 kilometers south of Tula, which is the administrative center of the oblast.

According to census data, the population of Shchekino has fluctuated over recent decades. In 1989, the Soviet census recorded a population of 72,000, while the 2002 census reported 61,588 residents. By the 2010 census, the population was recorded at 58,139.
