Naberezhnye Chelny is the second largest city in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. It serves as a major industrial center and is situated on the Kama River, located approximately 225 kilometers (140 miles) east of Kazan near the Nizhnekamsk Reservoir.
According to census data, the city's population was 548,434 in 2021. Previous records show a steady growth from 500,309 in the 1989 Soviet census to 513,193 in 2010.
