Tambov is a city located in central Russia at the confluence of the Tsna and Studenets rivers. It serves as the administrative center of Tambov Oblast and is situated approximately 418 km (260 mi) south-southeast of Moscow.
As of 2021, the city has a population of 261,803. It holds the distinction of being the largest city in the Tambov Oblast and serves as its historical center.
