Dorogobuzh is a historic town located in the Smolensk Oblast of Russia. It serves as the administrative center of the Dorogobuzhsky District and is situated approximately 125 kilometers (78 miles) east of Smolensk, which is the administrative center of the oblast.
The town is geographically positioned straddling the Dnieper River. According to census data, the population was recorded at 10,720 in 2010, following previous counts of 12,254 in 1989 and 12,250 in 2002.
