Shikhany, also spelled Shikhansky, is a town located in the Saratov Oblast of Russia. It is situated on the right bank of the Volga River, approximately 130 kilometers (81 miles) north of the city of Saratov.
The settlement functioned as a closed town from 1997 until it officially lost this status on January 1, 2019. It is located just 2 kilometers away from Shikhany-2, which serves as a major chemical weapons base. According to the 2010 census, the town had a population of 6,067 residents.
