Engels

Russia

Engels is a city located in Russia. While it serves as a geographical location within the country, it is distinct from the historical figure Friedrich Engels, who was a German philosopher, social and political theorist, and revolutionary socialist.

The namesake of the city shares a legacy with Karl Marx, with whom he co-authored The Communist Manifesto in 1848. Together, they developed the political and philosophical system known as Marxism. Following Marx's death, Engels served as the editor of his works and completed the second and third volumes of Das Kapital.
