Zhigansk is a rural locality and the administrative center of the Zhigansky District in the Sakha Republic, Russia. It is situated on the left bank of the Lena River, near the confluence with its tributary, the Nuora (Strekalovka). The settlement is located approximately 600 kilometers (370 mi) northwest of Yakutsk, which serves as the capital of the republic.
The population of Zhigansk has fluctuated over recent decades. According to census data, the population was 4,511 during the 1989 Soviet census, decreased to 3,346 in 2002, and stood at 3,420 as of the 2010 census.
