Yakutsk is the capital and largest city of the Sakha Republic in Russia. It is situated approximately 450 kilometers (280 miles) south of the Arctic Circle.
The city serves as a major hub for the mining industry, which has driven its development into one of Russia's most rapidly growing regional cities. As of the 2021 census, Yakutsk had a population of 355,443 residents.
