Taganrog is a port city located in the Rostov Oblast of Russia. It is situated on the north shore of Taganrog Bay in the Sea of Azov, positioned several kilometers west of the mouth of the Don River within the Black Sea region.
According to census data, the population of the city has fluctuated over recent decades. The 2021 census recorded a population of 245,120, following figures of 257,681 in 2010, 281,947 in 2002, and 291,622 during the 1989 Soviet census.
