Shakhty is a city located in the Rostov Oblast region of Russia. It is situated on the southeastern spur of the Donetsk mountain ridge, approximately 75 kilometers (47 miles) northeast of the city of Rostov-on-Don.
As of the 2023 Census, the population of Shakhty was recorded at 222,500 residents.
