Penza is the largest city and administrative center of the Penza Oblast region in Russia. It is situated on the Sura River, located approximately 625 kilometers (388 miles) southeast of Moscow.
According to the 2010 Census, the city had a population of 517,311 residents. This population size ranked Penza as the 36th-largest city in Russia.
