Orsk is a city in Russia located on the steppe approximately 100 kilometers southeast of the southern tip of the Ural Mountains. It serves as the second largest city in the Orenburg Oblast and sits adjacent to the border between Russia and Kazakhstan.
The city straddles the Ural River. According to census data, its population was recorded at 239,800 in 2010, following a decline from 270,711 during the 1989 Soviet census.
