Staraya Russa is a town located in the Novgorod Oblast of Russia. It is situated on the Polist River, approximately 99 kilometers (62 mi) south of Veliky Novgorod, which serves as the administrative center of the oblast.
The town functions as the administrative center of the Starorussky District and ranks as the third-largest settlement in the region, following Borovichi and Veliky Novgorod. According to the 2021 census, the population of Staraya Russa is 27,487.
