Severomorsk is a closed town located in the Murmansk Oblast of Russia. Formerly known as Vayenga until April 18, 1951, it is situated on the coast of the Barents Sea along the Kola Bay. The town sits approximately 25 kilometers northeast of Murmansk, the administrative center of the oblast, and is accessible via a motorway and railway connection.
The settlement serves as the primary administrative base and main naval base for the Russian Northern Fleet. It holds the distinction of being the sixth largest city in the world located beyond the Arctic Circle.
