Fili

Russia

The Fili (plural filid or filidh) was a member of an elite class of poets in Ireland and later Scotland until the Renaissance period. They occupied a significant social position within these cultures as specialized practitioners of poetry.

These individuals were believed to possess the power of divination, which granted them the ability to foresee, foretell, and predict important events. Their role was defined by this perceived supernatural insight alongside their literary expertise.
