Dolgoprudny is a town located in the Moscow Oblast of Russia. It is situated approximately 20 kilometers (12 mi) north of the Moscow city center.
The name of the town is derived from the Russian phrase "Долгий пруд," which translates to "long pond." This refers to a long and narrow body of water located in the northeastern part of the settlement. The town is also sometimes referred to by the colloquial shorthand Dolgopa.
According to census data, the population of Dolgoprudny has seen significant growth over recent decades. The 2021 census recorded a population of 120,907, an increase from 90,956 in 2010 and 70,751 during the 1989 Soviet census.
