Tikhvin is a town and the administrative center of the Tikhvinsky District in Russia's Leningrad Oblast. It is situated on both banks of the Tikhvinka River in the eastern part of the oblast, approximately 200 kilometers (120 mi) east of St. Petersburg.
The town serves as a significant industrial and cultural center for its district, while also functioning as a primary transportation hub. According to the 2010 census, Tikhvin had a population of 58,459 residents.
