Nizhnevartovsk

Nizhnevartovsk is a city located in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug–Yugra region of Russia. It is situated on the right bank of the Ob River, approximately 30 kilometers from the border with Tomsk Oblast.

The city experienced rapid growth starting in the 1960s due to its proximity to the Samotlor oil field and the broader Western Siberian oil boom. Because of its central role in the petroleum industry, Nizhnevartovsk has developed into one of the wealthiest cities in Russia.
