Sayanogorsk is a town located in the Republic of Khakassia, Russia. It is situated on the left bank of the Yenisei River, approximately 80 kilometers (50 miles) south of Abakan, which serves as the capital of the republic.
According to census data, the population of Sayanogorsk has remained relatively stable over recent decades. The 2010 census recorded a population of 49,887, following figures of 50,255 in 2002 and 50,188 during the 1989 Soviet census.
