Gorodovikovsk

Gorodovikovsk is a town located in the Republic of Kalmykia, Russia. It serves as the administrative center of the Gorodovikovsky District and is situated on the banks of the Bashanta River, approximately 240 kilometers west of the regional capital, Elista.

The settlement was previously known by the name Bashanta. According to census data, the population of the town has fluctuated over recent decades, recording 11,902 residents in 1989, decreasing to 10,940 in 2002, and reaching 9,565 by the 2010 census.
