Kaliningrad is the largest city and administrative centre of the Kaliningrad Oblast, which serves as an exclave of Russia situated between Lithuania and Poland. It is located on the Pregolya River at the head of the Vistula Lagoon and holds the distinction of being the only ice-free Russian port on the Baltic Sea.
As of 2020, the city had a population of 489,359. It ranks as the second-largest city in the Northwestern Federal District, following Saint Petersburg, and is the eighth-largest city located on the Baltic Sea.
