Chegem is a town located in Russia and serves as the administrative center of the Chegemsky District within the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. It is situated at an elevation of approximately 470 meters (1,540 ft) and lies about 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) north of the city of Nalchik.
According to the 2010 census, the town has a population of 18,019 residents. It functions as a primary administrative hub for its surrounding district in the region.
