Tulun is a town located in the Irkutsk Oblast of Russia. It is situated on the river Iya, approximately 390 kilometers (240 miles) northwest of the city of Irkutsk.
According to census data, the population of Tulun has fluctuated over recent decades. The 1989 Soviet census recorded a population of 52,903, which decreased to 51,848 in 2002 and further declined to 44,611 by the 2010 census.
