Yuzhno-Sukhokumsk is a town located in the Republic of Dagestan, Russia. It is situated along the Sukhaya Kuma River, approximately 295 kilometers (183 miles) northwest of the regional capital, Makhachkala.
According to census data, the population of the town has fluctuated over recent decades. The 2010 census recorded a population of 10,035 residents, following a count of 9,777 in 2002 and 12,246 during the 1989 Soviet census.
