Kizilyurt is a town located in the Republic of Dagestan, Russia. It is situated approximately 53 kilometers (33 miles) northwest of the regional center, Makhachkala.
The town is geographically positioned at the point where the north-flowing Sulak River exits the mountains and enters the Terek-Sulak Lowland. According to census data, the population was recorded at 32,988 in 2010, following a previous count of 30,264 in 2002.
