Shumerlya is a town located in the Chuvash Republic of Russia. It is situated on the right bank of the Sura River along the Nizhny Novgorod–Ulyanovsk highway.
According to census data, the population of Shumerlya has fluctuated over recent decades. The 2010 census recorded a population of 31,722, following figures of 36,239 in 2002 and 41,986 during the 1989 Soviet census.
