Pevek is an Arctic port town situated in Russia. It serves as the administrative center of the Chaunsky District within the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. The settlement is located above the Arctic Circle on a peninsula on the eastern side of Chaunskaya Bay, facing the Routan Islands.
The town is positioned approximately 640 kilometers northwest of Anadyr, which is the administrative center of the autonomous okrug. According to census data, the population has fluctuated significantly over recent decades, decreasing from 12,915 in 1989 to 4,015 in 2021.
