Kyshtym is a town located in the Chelyabinsk Oblast of Russia. It is situated on the eastern slopes of the Southern Ural Mountains, approximately 90 kilometers northwest of the city of Chelyabinsk and near the town of Ozyorsk.
According to census data, the population of Kyshtym has fluctuated over recent decades. The 2010 census recorded a population of 38,942, following figures of 41,929 in 2002 and 42,852 during the 1989 Soviet census.
