Itum-Kale, also spelled as Itum-Kali, is a rural locality located in the Chechen Republic of Russia. It serves as the administrative center of the Itum-Kalinsky District. According to the 2010 census, the settlement had a population of 1,068, down from 2,916 recorded in 2002.
The history of the area is marked by significant demographic shifts during the mid-20th century. In 1944, the Chechen inhabitants were deported on the order of Joseph Stalin, and the territory was subsequently transferred to Georgia. This decision was reversed in the late 1950s, at which point the surviving Chechens were permitted to return to the region.
