Sterlitamak is a city located in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia. It is situated on the left bank of the Belaya River, approximately 121 kilometers (75 miles) from the regional capital, Ufa. The name Sterlitamak originates from the Bashkir language and translates literally to "mouth of the Sterlya river."
As of January 1, 2023, the city had a permanent population of 279,174 people. It serves as the second largest city in the Republic of Bashkortostan.
