Kumertau is a town located in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia. It is situated approximately 250 kilometers (160 mi) from the city of Ufa and 102 kilometers (63 mi) from Sterlitamak.
According to census data, the population of Kumertau was recorded at 62,851 in 2010. Previous census figures indicate a population of 65,003 in 2002 and 64,260 during the 1989 Soviet census.
