Novodvinsk is a town located in the northern part of Russia's Arkhangelsk Oblast. It is situated on the left bank of the Northern Dvina river, approximately 20 kilometers south of the city of Arkhangelsk.
According to census data, the population of Novodvinsk has fluctuated over recent decades. The 1989 Soviet census recorded a population of 50,183, which decreased to 43,383 in 2002 and further to 40,615 by the 2010 census.
