Tynda is a town located in the Amur Oblast of Russia. It is situated approximately 568 kilometers (353 miles) northwest of the city of Blagoveshchensk.
The town serves as an important railway junction and is informally known as the capital of the Baikal-Amur Mainline. In recent years, Tynda has experienced a sharp decline in population, falling from 61,996 residents in the 1989 Soviet census to 36,275 by the 2010 census.
