Zrenjanin is a city located in Serbia, serving as the administrative center of the Central Banat District within the autonomous province of Vojvodina. The city's urban area has a population of 67,129 inhabitants, while its total administrative area houses 105,722 people.
Historically known as Veliki Bečkerek or Nagybecskerek under Austria-Hungary until 1918, the city was renamed Petrovgrad following World War I. This new name was chosen to honor King Peter I the Great Liberator, who served as the King of Serbia and the King of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes.
