Roesti

Romania

Rösti (also spelled rööschti) is a traditional Swiss dish primarily composed of potatoes that are sautéed or shallow-fried in a pan. While it originated as a breakfast staple for farmers in the canton of Bern and parts of the canton of Fribourg, it has since become a popular culinary item throughout Switzerland and internationally.

The dish is often associated with its regional origins, as evidenced by the French name röstis bernois, which directly refers to its history in the Bern region. Despite its traditional roots as a rustic meal, it remains a well-known representative of Swiss cuisine today.
